Feeding Advice

Feed during active feeding periods and adjust according to temperature, oxygen levels, filtration capacity and water quality. Higher feeding levels should only be used when pond conditions are stable.

What is RG-92?

To present the most honest and complete picture possible of the product RG-92, KiGen have gathered as much information as possible and outlined it below.

RG-92 in the context of the koi hobby.

RG-92 is described by the manufacturer (SARABiO 温泉微生物研究所 in Beppu) as a natural extract derived from a unique microalgae (green algae) that lives in hot springs. It is therefore not a “classic” chemical additive, but a hot-spring algae extract, which is also positioned as a feed ingredient in livestock farming and aquaculture. SARABiO further states (on its own website) that RG-92 was registered in Japan in 2021 as a feed ingredient (飼料).

What is it intended to do? SARABiO reports that trials have been conducted in aquatic animals/aquaculture, in which the following effects were observed:

• Lower mortality (へい死抑制)
• Improved FCR/feed efficiency (増肉係数改善)
